the trout and the chicken

The Social Network was an incredibly engaging movie on Mark Zuckerberg’s (the creator facebook) journey in Harvard College, from where facebook first took off and the problems he faced in its earlier years. I’m betting that this movie was an exaggeration of Zuckerberg’s experience. I think that the core idea of the movie was about acceptance.  SPOILER ALERT. Since he was not accepted into Phoenix, an exclusive club at Harvard University, he got an idea to create a social network that was at first exclusive to Harvard students. Then he put facebook before everything and eventually lost the only friend he had. Thus the tag line “you don’t get to 500 million friends without making a few enemies”. In the end it was about connection, and how connected you felt to the man who became a billionaire. And that’s what facebook is now advertising. Connection.

“I’m trying to make the world a more open place by helping people connect and share.” – Mark Zuckerberg

sidenote: there were some comedic stuff that happens in the movie too. it’s really good. it’s not entirely dramatic. Jesse Eisenberg, Andrew Garfield did a great job. Justin Timberlake was a creep in the movie and I didn’t know that his voice would irritate me so much. But he did do a good acting job. So round of applause to you guys. Congratulations to Brenda Song for getting a older role this time. It’s nice to see her breaking away from Disney and Suite Life. So yeah, 4 out of 5 stars.
